Postpartum care essentials

Recovery deserves as much care as delivery.

Hervana makes the small, practical things that help a new mother feel comfortable in the first days after birth: a gown made for the labour room and the first feed, a gentle peri bottle, and a cooling pad that soothes the moment you need it.

The Hervana essentials laid flat: the raspberry MD Labour Gown, the teal peri bottle, a quilted cooling pad and its cold-pack pouch

Care · Comfort · You

01

Care

Thoughtful essentials for the everyday realities of recovery, not just the big moment.

02

Comfort

03

You

Because a mother's recovery deserves as much attention as the delivery itself.

How it helps

Made for the moments after birth

Nobody tells you how much happens in the first few days. Each Hervana essential is built for a specific one.

  1. 1

    In the labour room

A full back opening gives the care team access for an epidural, so you stay covered without changing in and out of clothes.

    MD Labour Gown
  2. 2

    The first hour

Front snaps open for skin-to-skin bonding and the first feed, then close again in seconds.

  3. 3

    Gentle cleansing

Wiping tender, stitched skin hurts. Rinse instead with lukewarm water, or the cleansing solution your doctor recommends, such as diluted povidone-iodine (Betadine). Then pat dry.

    Peri Bottle
  4. 4

    Soothing the soreness

Cold and an absorbent maternity pad in one. Squeeze, shake and wear: it cools in under a minute, with no freezer and no ice packs.

The honest part

What the first days can really feel like

After a vaginal birth, the perineum (the area between the vagina and the anus) is stretched, bruised and often swollen, whether you had stitches, a small tear or none at all. You're not imagining it, and you're not alone. Here's what mothers commonly feel, and what helps.

Burning or stinging when you pee

Urine on grazed or stitched skin can sting sharply, and for many mothers that first trip to the toilet is the one they dread most.

What helps: squeeze the peri bottle as you pee to dilute the urine, then rinse front to back.

Swelling, throbbing, a feeling of heaviness

Swollen tissue can feel tight and hot, with a deep ache that worsens after standing or walking for a while.

What helps: short sessions of cold, a long-standing way to calm swelling and dull the ache.

Sore to sit, stand or move

Sitting down, getting out of bed or feeding in one position for long can press right on the sore spot.

What helps: a cooling pad between feeds, and changing position often.

Dreading the toilet paper

Rubbing tender skin hurts and can irritate stitches, but you still want to feel clean and fresh.

What helps: rinse, then gently pat dry. No rubbing.

How long does it last?

For most mothers, soreness is worst in the first two to three days and eases noticeably over one to two weeks. Stitches usually heal within a few weeks. Every birth is different, so follow your doctor's advice.

Call your doctor if…

  • the pain gets worse instead of better
  • the area smells bad, oozes or looks increasingly red
  • you have a fever or feel unwell
  • you can't pass urine, or can't control your bladder or bowels

Hervana Peri Bottle: ribbed teal squeeze bottle with a long angled white nozzle

Gentle rinsing for personal care

Peri Bottle

After childbirth, toilet paper is the last thing tender skin needs. A soft, controlled stream cleans without rubbing, eases the sting when you pee and keeps the area fresh between pad changes.

  • Angled nozzle reaches the right spot without twisting
  • Easy-squeeze ribbed bottle so you control the flow
  • Protective cap keeps the nozzle clean between uses
  • Use with water or your prescribed solution, as your doctor advises
How to use
  1. Fill with lukewarm water, below 40 °C (104 °F), or the cleansing solution your doctor recommends.
  2. Position the nozzle externally.
  3. Squeeze gently to rinse from front to back. Rinsing while you pee eases the sting.
  4. Pat dry, then clean and dry the bottle after use.

Antiseptic solutions such as povidone-iodine (Betadine) should be used only when your doctor recommends them, at the exact dilution they advise. For external use only.

Hervana Instant Cooling Pad: a thin quilted maternity pad and its sealed squeeze-to-activate cold pack

Cooling comfort and absorption in one

Instant Cooling Pad

Cold is one of the oldest, simplest ways to calm a swollen, sore perineum. This pad brings it on instantly, built into an absorbent maternity pad, so there's no ice to wrap and no freezer to wait for.

<1minto reach about 10 °C (50 °F)
15minstays below 15 °C (59 °F)
5–10minrecommended per session

Cold-pack manufacturer's figures, measured at room temperature below 25 °C (77 °F). In a warmer room the cold lasts for less time.

  • Instant activation: squeeze, shake, and it starts cooling
  • Feels like: a quick, deep chill that dulls the sting and throbbing, then fades gradually
  • Ultra-thin absorbent maternity pad, non-electric cooling
  • Non-toxic, hypoallergenic materials · UV-sterilised · single use
How to use
  1. Squeeze the sealed pack to activate.
  2. Shake gently to mix.
  3. Open and remove the adhesive backing.
  4. Wear as directed on the pack, for short sessions of about 5–10 minutes or as your doctor advises.

Never place a cold pack directly on bare skin. Do not freeze, puncture or reuse. Keep away from children.

Questions

Good to know

How cold does the cooling pad get, and for how long?

According to the cold-pack manufacturer, it reaches about 10 °C (50 °F) in under a minute and stays below 15 °C (59 °F) for up to 15 minutes, measured in a room below 25 °C (77 °F). In a warmer room it cools for a shorter time. Short sessions of 5–10 minutes are recommended.

Does the cooling pad need a freezer?

No. Squeeze the sealed pack to activate it, shake gently and it starts cooling. No freezer, no electricity.

Can a cooling pad be used more than once?

No. Each pad is single use. Do not freeze, puncture or reuse it, and keep it away from children.

What should I put in the peri bottle?

Lukewarm water, below 40 °C (104 °F), is enough for most mothers. If your doctor recommends a cleansing solution, such as diluted povidone-iodine (Betadine), use exactly the solution and dilution they advise. For external use only.

Why does it sting when I pee after giving birth?

Urine touching grazed, torn or stitched skin causes a burning sting. Squeezing the peri bottle while you pee dilutes the urine and eases it. If the burning continues after the first days, or you have a fever, talk to your doctor, because it can also be a sign of infection.

Who is the MD Labour Gown for?

Mothers in labour and the first hours after delivery. It opens at the back for epidural access and at the front for skin-to-skin and breastfeeding. Wear it as advised by your care team.

Do you supply outside India?

We currently supply within India and are preparing exports, starting with the US. Distributors and international buyers can reach us through the form below.

Can we evaluate the products before ordering?

Yes. Hospitals and clinics can request samples for their teams before placing a bulk order.
